Disappearing act

Where has Lily Allen gone? She has lost so much weight!

I love her and I think lately she has been looking really good, especially with her outfit choices. But she looks super tiny in these pics!

What do you think, does she look better or worse?

I think you are an awesome girl...

I was tagged by Claire Eloise for this award, thank you! If you haven't seen her blog already you can check it out here.

I have to give you all 10 facts about me and nominate 10 lovely blogs!

1. I have no tattoos but I LOVE Kat Von D and often wish I could cover myself in tattoos and look as fabulous as her. But I would worry that one day I'd wake up and not want them anymore..

2. I can't stand the look or feel of mushrooms.

3. I still have a nightie that I got when I was 11. It's from Tammy Girl and I can't bear to throw it away. I wear it occasionally and am amazed it still fits me!

4. I'm addicted to tea and drink it constantly. I'm drinking a cup right now :)

5. When I was little I played guitar, played percussion, was in the school choir, did ballet, tap, and went to Brownies. My life seems so boring now in comparison!

6. I am trying to learn how to knit again. I would like to knit dog jumpers :)

7. I would like 2 children; a boy and a girl, and I have some names picked out which are all quite unusual.

8. I don't have much luck with mobile phones. I am always dropping them on the floor and down the toilet and such..

9. I have not seen my natural hair colour in a long long time.

10. I get bored easily. See fact number 5. I tend to start a lot of things and give up at the first hurdle.

I am going to tag 10 great blogs that I haven't tagged before:

Soft Hands, Kind Heart

As you guys know some of us went to a bloggers event for The Body Shop and we all got a lovely goodie bag to take home! I was instantly pleased to receive a tube of Soft Hands Kind Heart hand cream as we had been given a tube to pass round and test, and I loved it! I would have definitely bought a tube but now I don't have to until this one runs out!

The hand cream is £5.00 but £3.45 from every tube goes to ECPAT, who work to stop the trafficking and sexual exploitation of children and young people - in the UK and around the world. You can have a look at the ECPAT website here.
It smells gorgeous, is non-greasy and sinks in a treat. I will definitely repurchase this. Plus it is such a good cause!

For more information check out the page on The Body Shop website here.

Thanks to Natalie for the top picture which I pinched :)

The Body Shop event

I know blogger is full of posts about The Body Shop event but I have to get a quick post in there too :)

Here is my outfit! Miss Selfridge blazer, Topshop vest, Topshop jeans, Alexander McQueen scarf, and Uggs. And jewellery wise I wore a rose ring which I think is from Accessorize, a variety of bangles and my Juicy Couture watch.

Me, Kelly and Carla were up bright n early to get the train from Leeds to London. Our train was late so once we got off the train it was all a bit hectic trying to find other people and a loo!

The event was fab! The venue, Sketch, was amazing and all the effort that had gone into the decoration, food and drink was brill. A big "thanks" to The Body Shop people and to Natalie for inviting me! You can check out Natalie's photos from the event here.

Hearing about the new products and the makeup was really interesting and I loved hearing how they developed the new perfume.

It was great to chat to people that I knew from the blogging world but I was so so nervous and it was all very overwhelming. Hopefully the next event won't be so daunting for me! :)

We all got a lovely goodie bag full of stuff and I was especially pleased to receive the perfume (which is lovely) and the hand cream! I will blog about the products over the next few weeks, but if there's anything you like the look of please let me know and I will do that first. I'm looking forward to trying out some of the 11 lipsticks!

A special thanks to Kelly and Carla for the funniest train journey home. I think the business men sat around us were a bit confused at us producing bags of 'loot' and talking about you-tube, bloggy stuff and having a Zac Efron/Robert Pattinson debate!

Obsessions tag

Hi guys,

I am trying not to get bigheaded but I have been nominated for so many lovely tags/awards lately that I have had trouble keeping up! "Thanks" to everyone who thinks of me on their list of favourites, it really means a lot. And if I don't mention it on my blog it's because I genuinely forget or I don't make a note to do it. Feel free to remind me!! :)

Monika at Rocaille and Carlinn at Superficial Girls both nominated me for this award so I'm going to pass it on!

The rules with this award are:
1) List 5 current obsessions
2) Pass the award on to 5 fabulous blogs
3) Mention the person who tagged you and post their blog link
4) Post links to the 5 winners and let them know!

My 5 current obsessions are:

1) My blog/Twitter/You Tube/Blog tv. I am a total internet whore at the moment!

2) Come Dine With Me. I love this programe! I love the narrator, the bitchiness and seeing all the yummy food.

3) My course. I didn't want to say too much on this until I knew whether I liked it or not, but I'm rubbish at keeping quiet. I'm a Beauty Therapy student! I started at college yesterday and the course will last until next February (it's every Saturday). The first day went well and I'm excited at learning a completely new subject!

4) Nail polish. I have started getting the urge to paint my nails all the time, which isn't good news because I will have to remove it every Saturday from now on for college! Doh!

5) Trying to look my age. The people at my new job seem to think I'm between the 17 to 19 mark. I'm TWENTY FOUR! Do I really look so young???

I nominate 5 fabulous blogs that I have not nominated before:

A Fashionable Affair
Lipgloss86
TalluluhBella
Shopaholic
Shangri-La

Weight loss update

After just 1 week of drinking more water and eating less bad stuff (although, I have had pizza for tea 2 nights running) I have lost 2lbs!

Not a lot to some people but it's a good start I think!

I have done no working out whatsoever in the past week. I am a new girl at work and as of yesterday, a new girl at college (tell you more about that soon) so the last thing I've wanted to do is exercise.

Hopefully as I get settled into my new routine I will start to do more. It's just a case of putting time aside to do it and not finding excuses!

Nails inc - Jermyn Street

My freebie nail polish from Nails inc FINALLY arrived (better late than never ay!) and the postie left it hanging out of my postbox so I'm lucky it was still there when I got home! (*rant*)

It's my new fave! I love the colour. It is so different to all my other nail polishes which are a variation of a theme.. red, bubblegum pink, hot pink, coral, etc.

It's definitely a colour I can wear for work and not look too silly or unprofessional.

Tha photo above shows it with just one coat and it looks pretty good.

I definitely wouldn't buy any Nails inc polishes at full price as they are just too expensive. But this will take pride of place as my new favourite :)

You asked & I'm telling!

On this post here I asked you guys to throw some questions at me and you did! So here are the answers!

If you could take anyone (living/dead, famous/friend) shopping for the day, who would you take and why?
I would take Nicole Richie. I used to be obsessed with her and she has fabulous style so she would be great for picking out clothes for me! Plus, she is rich and would have sympathy on my pathetic bank balance and treat me to something :)

I bought these sunglasses after I saw this pic!

If you had to spend a week wearing only 2 items of make-up..what would they be?
Foundation, definitely! I feel so ugly and bare without a base. And probably mascara because my eyelashes are so pants it's not even funny!

What nationality are you?
British

How old are you?
24 years old

How would you describe your style?
Casual. I don't really have a niche that I fit into. I dress really smart for work. I love skinny jeans with floaty tops. I like leggings with a tunic/top over. I also like sweats and wear a lot of Victoria's Secret Pink and Juicy Couture, kind of like Ashley Tisdale. I actually really like her style. She has a good balance of casual and dressy. I am probably quite similar to her in style apart from the obvious difference that I don't have designer stuff!
How you came across YT and beauty blogs?
The first blog I started to follow regularly was Frassy. At my old job I had a lot of spare time on my hands so I would browse the net and look at blogs. Then I discovered the beauty bloggers and was mainly inspired by Hele to start my own!

Are you a natural blondie?
No :) My natural hair colour is dark brown.

How did you and your boyfriend meet?
Last March he started to work at the architecture practice I worked at but we didn't really talk to each other and take much notice of each other until the June. We got chatting on Facebook and some nights we would stay up till 3am chatting but then ignore each other at work! lol. One day he asked me out, so we went to York for a day out which turned into having dinner in the evening which turned into a night out round Leeds! A great 1st date!

3 days later half the company we worked for were made redundant, including us!

Who are your style icons?
Mainly Nicole Richie, Ashley Tisdale and Alexa Chung.

What is your all-time favourite film?
The Notebook! :)

Which film/book/song etc has really truly changed your life, if any?
Tough question Lil! Lots of films have affected me and made me think! Most recently 'Changeling'. I watched it and was like 'wowww, that really happened!' and it was so terrible :(

Is it hard work having 3 dogs?
Sometimes, when they are being naughty. But I am used to animals, I grew up surrounded by cats and dogs and guinea pigs so it is pretty normal to have 3 dogs.

Do you both work and leave them at home during the day?
No we don't. My boyfriend is at uni full time but with it being architecture he mainly works from our home. I work through the day and his job is evenings so the dogs are never left for more than an hour or 2.

How are your teeth so white?! Do you have any secret product that you use on them...I'm jealous!
Why thank you! I'm afraid to say I don't use anything special on them and never have! I brush them twice a day with regular toothpaste and floss every now and then. I guess I'm just lucky!

Ker-chingggg!

What are your 3 essential make-up products?
Foundation, mascara and bronzer.

What's your natural hair colour?
Dark brown.

If you were stranded on a desert island for a year what 5 things would you take with you?
A 5 year supply of suncream so that I wouldn't go all wrinkly.
A very long book.
A bikini.
A knife to cut down coconuts and shizzle.
An Ipod! - with a very long battery life!

What would be your dream job?
Working with animals in some way, perhaps as a dolphin trainer.

Beauty buys of the week.. part 3 - the rest!

To finish off the reviews on the products I bought last week I'm going to quickly run through the remaining 3 items. You can read the previous reviews here and here.

Natural Collection Lash build mascara in black
I needed to pick up a cheap mascara to use once my Benefit Bad Gal has run out, so I headed to Boots to browse at some of the cheaper brands. I haven't bought anything from Natural Collection since I was about 14 but looking at the stand I was impressed with the eye shadow colours and the prices - so cheap! This mascara cost me £1.95 and there was an offer for 3 products for £5.

This mascara isn't a contender for any of the bigger names out there, but it is good. I am actually quite impressed with it as I didn't have high hopes for it!

My eyelashes are none existant but just one coat transforms them. When I apply a couple of coats and apply some Bad Gal over the top they look great!

Sally Hansen 'Teflon Tuff'
Once again Home Bargains has come up trumps and I picked this up for 99p. It's a really good top coat which is meant to be applied over wet polish to set it. And it's really good, it does the trick. For 99p it's a great buy!

E.L.F. brushes (bought from http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk/ for £1.50 each)
 - Total Face brush
- Blushing, Bronzing & Blending brush
- Foundation brush
- Eye Shadow brush

I'm no makeup expert and some of you more serious makeup peeps might not like these brushes but they are great for what I need them for. The total face brush is fab! Really big and great for applying my powder. The foundation brush is good although I do prefer applying my foundation with my fingers but on the days where I want a lighter look/feel this brush is great. My least favourite is probably the blushing, bronzing, blending brush. It feels slightly bristly and I'm not quite sure what to do with it to be honest! I prefer applying my blush with the total face brush.

The brushes were all £1.50 and delivery was cheap. I ordered at lunchtime and my order arrived the very next day! Very impressive service! I would definitely order from e.l.f again.

Weight loss.... an update!

If you read my previous post about weight loss (here) you will know that I vowed to get on a health kick! Not so much dieting and cutting out food, but drinking lots of water, eating more fruit/veg and doing lots of exercise!

Well guys.. I'm a failure. There, I said it! I have failed at the first hurdle.

Just over a week later and I have done my workout dvd ONCE! I have had at least 2 McDonalds meals and a Chinese takeaway. I feel so ashamed :(

But, after going shopping today and not being able to squeeze into my usual size (thanks a lot Topshop sizing system, thanks a bunch!!) I am starting again with a whole new frame of mind.

Last week was a hectic week what with starting my new job and feeling a bit under the weather so the last thing I wanted to do was exercise and jump around like a crazy woman. But now I have got my first week of work over with and the nerves have subsided, I can focus on getting healthy and feeling better about myself.

This week I'm going to drink only water and tea :) No fizzy pop!
I am going to exercise every single day.
I am not going to skip breakfast.
I am going to eat more fruit.
I am going to motivate myself by looking at beautiful people with beautiful bodies, e.g.

I do have to add though, trying to attain a 'perfect' figure like these ladies puts a lot of pressure on people and it's important to remember that us normal folk don't have access to personal trainers every day, our own chef and we also don't have the pressure of knowing we will be photographed cellulite and all!

But using pics like this really motivate me to get off my butt and work out!!

Is anyone else trying to lose weight at the moment?

Whose figure do you admire?

Top 3 nail polishes

This is my entry for the wonderful giveaway over at The Nail Buff. If you haven't checked this website out yet I suggest you do!

My 3 favourite/most used polishes are:

L-R: Rimmel Coralicious - Miners Paint The Town Red - Rimmel Portobello Pink

I use Coralicious the most. It's a gorgeous colour, perfect for the Summer. I actually bought it at the airport last year on the way to Ibiza and wore it all holiday :)

The Miners nail polishes are really good and this red colour only needs one coat to look fabulous!

Last but not least, I love Portobello Pink because it's a really girly, Barbie pink colour which looks fab on my toes!

Welcome to Miami

I am sat watching Miami Ink and it has brought back happy memories from my holiday in May. We (me, the boyfriend, my mum, my dad, my sister and her boyfriend) went to Orlando for 2 weeks and we did a day trip to Miami.

Me!

We started the day early and headed to the Everglades and did an airboat tour, then we visited an animal sanctuary that housed a variety of rescued animals who had been kept as pets illegally. One little crocodile had actually been kept in someone's bath! The Armadillo was my favourite. What a cute little critter!

Then we did a cruise and saw the mansions of the rich and famous! Here I am before we went on the boat. Excuse the sweaty mess but it's hard to look glam in 110 degree heat!

The mansions were out of this world! My favourite was a pink one which I believe belongs to Elizabeth Taylor. Next up we strolled along South Beach (in the sweltering heat!) and took hundreds of photos of all the art deco hotels, the beach, 'Muscle Beach' and Versace's house which was just amazing!

Then we went to..... the Miami Ink shop!!!!! I'm a huge fan of the programme and it was AWESOME to see the shop and we even got to meet Darren Brass.

Darren Brass outside the shop!

I have been to Orlando 4 times before but this year was the best. It was a blast and going to Miami was a definite highlight!! I would love to go back one day.

I thought I would share a couple of snaps from Miami with you! I took 1500 photos during the holiday, most of which can be found on Facebook, but I won't subject you to any more than the ones above :)

Has anyone else been to Miami?

Beauty buys of the week - part 2.. Lush 'Lemony Flutter'

When I asked for some cuticle oil/butter recommendations on Twitter, 'Lemony Flutter' by Lush made the most appearances! So, off I went to Lush in Leeds to grab this little beauty and also have a nosy round the newly refurbished shop (which looks great!)

Firstly, there is a lot of product for the price. A little bit goes a long long way so it will last me ages.

I have been applying this like crazy. I can't get enough of the stuff! After a week of applying this to my cuticles, nails and hands several times a day there has been a noticeable improvement in the appearance of my cuticles. They were dry and slightly tatty looking before, not any more! No more tatty bits!

I recommend this if you're looking for a cuticle butter. It's a really cheap product that has worked for me in a short space of time. I will continue to use it daily, and I have started to use it on my toes too!

I personally love the smell. My boyfriend hates it. It gives him a headache apparently! So that is something to bear in mind. It is a very strong smell, very strong indeed, but I prefer that to something odourless.

I would give this 4.5 out of 5. It loses half a mark for making my boyfriend feel queasy! :)

The Ultimate Five (tag)

A HUGE thanks to Lauren Loves for tagging me on this. I was very flattered to hear that I was one of the first blogs she started to read regularly! It is a nice feeling and very strange because I always think my blog is pooh compared to some others! I put a lot of effort into it and spend a lot of time reading my comments and replying (just ask my boyfriend, he feels like 2nd best to my blog sometimes..oops!) so I'm glad you guys like to read it!

Go check out Lauren's blog if you haven't done so already. Her blog is really good and she deserves way more 'followers'!

Oh my. I also just remembered that Cat at Swirledpeacat tagged me for this too! Thank you chick! Hers is another blog you should all check out too. So go have a peek if you haven't already!

So, there's three parts to this tag. First off, a shout out to five blogs you love to read (a sentence or so to say why you love them), then tell us five things you love and five facts about yourself. Simples!

The first part is hard. I love so many blogs and I have tagged loads of my faves recently, and it makes me feel bad for all the blogs I don't mention. So, I am going to tag nobody and say I love everybody!

Ok.. five things I love:

1. Christmas. It is the best time of year. All the shops are full of Christmas gifts and decorated in sparkly lights. There is food and drink flowing everywhere. And of course there are presents aplenty! :) My new job closes over Christmas too, what a bonus!

2. My dogs. And animals in general. You all know that anyway though :)

3. Money. I love having enough money in the bank to feel comfortable. I love being able to buy new things that make me feel more confident and I like little treats like the cinema and going out for dinner.

4. Smart cars. I own a Silver Smart which I showed you all in a previous post once, and my car before that was a Smart too. They are so nice to drive. They aren't slow like some people think, they are actually quite speedy and I can nip into small parking spaces no problemo!
Plus they are quite a 'green' car and road tax is only £35 a year! Get in! I would LOVE a pink one. Perhaps that can be my next car..

5. Cake. I am a total cake fiend, and I really wish I wasn't so that I could lose a few pounds. You name it, I like it! My favourites are battenburg, french fancies, coconut tarts, lemon curd tarts and fruit cake! YUM!

Five facts about me:

1. My middle name is Claire.

2. My starsign is Aquarius. Supposedly that makes me friendly and a humanitarian (true), honest and loyal (true), original and inventive (not so sure on that one), and unpredictable (unfortunately true!)

3. I have one sister who is 2 years older and the complete opposite to me. She has black hair, green eyes, is very tanned, and she is so laid back (unlike me.. I'm a total stress head!) Hello Adele! :)

4. People who have heard me sing tell me I'm quite good. My family want me to audition for X Factor, it is never going to happen! I'm too shy, too scared of failure and I would hate to be famous/on the tv so why bother! I'm happy sticking to karaoke, and 'Lips' at Christmas time with my family. lol.

5. When I was little I had a really bad asthma attack and asthma affected me in my younger years quite badly, and occasionally it still troubles me as an adult. It turned out I was allergic to most animal hair/fur and peanuts, and the day of my 1st attack I had eaten a tub of peanuts and slept on a feather pillow. I am no longer allergic to peanuts and me/my parents have had lots and lots of fluffy animals over the years none of which I'm allergic to!

Thanks for reading guys! xxx

Beauty buys of the week - part 1.. Estee Lauder

These are the makeup/beauty products I have bought this week and I'm going to do individual posts about them as and when I have had chance to give them a good test!

On the right you will see Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. I have been using this for the past few years and I absolutely love it! It covers all my blemishes and spotty business, it stays put all day and it has a spf 10.

Lately I have debated trying out something new. I paid a visit to the Dior counter and almost bought the Dior Forever foundation after hearing so many good things about it from a few bloggers. I was very impressed with it. It made my skin look great without being too heavy and it felt lovely on my skin. Unfortunately they didn't have any samples in my colour so I wasn't able to test it out the next day using my usual routine, which I think is quite poor considering the price of the foundation. So, in the end I went back to my trusty Double Wear.

My skin is quite blemish free at the moment and if it stays that way I will definitely purchase Dior Forever foundation at some point in the future so that I have the option to use both, perhaps the Dior as a day time foundation and Double Wear for the evening.
I also got a free gift from Estee Lauder, and as free gifts go this one is a very generous size! It is DayWear Plus which is a 'multi protection anti-oxidant creme spf 15'. The blurb on the website says it actively shields skin to help prevent lines before they appear - so your skin looks smoother and heathier, longer.

I have been applying the cream, waiting half an hour, then applying my foundation and I must say my skin feels great afterwards; really smooth.

As you can see my skin looks fairly clear here after applying the Double Wear and I just wish I could be brave and show you a 'before' photo to prove how good the foundation is!

What is your all time favourite foundation?

This weeks clothes purchases

I have been a bit naughty this week. As well as my new sunglasses I have bought a few new items, mainly for my new job as I want to look smart on my 1st day :)

I spotted this Barbara Hulanicki top whilst walking past the sale rail in Topshop and it caught my eye because I recently saw Zoella wearing it and thought it was lovely. It was only £15 which is a bargain considering it is such a gorgeous print and lovely material too.

I also got a lovely long cardigan from H&M which I haven't photographed due to constantly wearing it since buying it :) It was £14.99 which is a fairly good price as it's quite good quality. It's hand wash only though. Grr, annoying.

I don't normally buy sale items but I have bought something else from the sale, this time a smart skirt from River Island which was reduced to £12. I thought it would look nice to wear at my new job. It is grey and plain, but there is some ruching which adds a nice detail to it. I thought it would look nice with a white shirt tucked in.

I have wanted a blazer for ages and I saw this one in Miss Selfridge a few weeks ago. Today I had a hunt round Leeds and tried a few places but this Miss S one is the best fit and the one I liked the best. It was £45.

I will be able to wear it for work and with skinny jeans too so hopefully I will get lots of wear out of it.

I hope everyone is having a nice weekend so far? Today after shopping my boyfriend treated me to lunch at Wagamama and I had a delicious chicken noodle soup. I gave the chopsticks a go but in the end gave in and asked for a fork because I was starving and wanted to shovel it in! :)

We got absolutely soaked today. It was raining cats and dogs! How is the weather where you are today? I'm absolutely sick of the rain, it is non stop!

We have played the lottery tonight for the first time in absolutely ages. Fingers crossed! If we win the jackpot I will buy all my followers a drink!

Tomorrow I'm looking forward to having Sunday roast at my mum and dads house :) And on Sunday night I will be a bag of nerves ready to start work on Monday morning. 8.30am start, jeez!

Lots of love, xxx
